Is Your PEX Pipe a Quality Product?  Get it Tested!
With PEX Pipe it is critical that there is consistent and uniform crosslinking throughout the entire pipe wall during the manufacturing process since this improves performance properties such as optimal thermal memory, elasticity, elevated temperature strength, chemical resistance, environmental-stress-crack resistance, slow-crack-growth resistance, and abrasion resistance.  ExcelPlas can test the degree of cross linking through the wall thickness of the pipe. Despite the flexibility of PEX piping and being highly resistant to breakage it can undergo brittle cracking in service due to exhausted antioxidant reserves.
PEX piping is an easy-to-install alternative to copper pipe however quality assurance checks should be done on PEX pipe particularly those imported from Asia. ExcelPlas Labs use a range of analytical techniques to assist all stakeholders (Building Owners, Facility Management, Body Corporate, Insurance companies, Plumbers and Hydraulics Engineers) to better understand the composition, quality and durability of imported PEX piping.  Our fully trained professional staff can conduct in-situ sampling on site and sampling of provided reference pipes (from spare rolls or off-cuts).  Contact ExcelPlas Labs to assess the quality of PEX piping.

ExcelPlas Poly Pipe Weld Inspection Lists Top 7 Causes of Weld Failure:
• Lack of scraping
• Inaccurate scraping
• Contamination from dirt, water, oil or clays
• Lack of Paralell-ness of fusion faces
• Misalignment of surfaces
• Time, temperature and pressure deviations
• Not adhering to cool times

We have extensive experience in inspection of poly pipe welds for assuring welded joint quality.  Direct Poly Pipe Inspection ensures that operators are following the proven welding procedure; this reduces the occurrences of operational errors which lead to defects such as inclusions, lack of fusion (LoF), porosity and misalignment.
